This exhibition reviews the development of Taiwan’s international relations since the 17th century, starting from the trade routes during the Dutch and Spanish periods, through the influence of foreign powers in the late Qing Dynasty, and continuing to Japan’s rule after the Treaty of Shimonoseki in 1895. The exhibition showcases how Taiwan, with its geographical advantages and abundant resources, became an important hub in global trade. We hope this exhibition will help you gain a deeper understanding of Taiwan’s significant role in international history and its foreign-related incidents. All faculty members and students are welcome to visit!
