World Book Day 4/23: Word Journey

🌐Beyond the predetermined paths of algorithms, reading is a personal choice that leads to a broader world.

In this age of the fragmented information, we need to take a more proactive role in breaking through perceptual blind spots. On World Book Day this year, the Library has curated a selection of OpenBook Award-winning titles and 2025 online bookstore bestsellers. These books are more than collections of words. They serve as catalysts that expand our perspectives, going beyond the familiar to discovering new landscapes.

Activity Period: April 13 (Mon) to April 24 (Fri), 2026
Venues: Taipei Campus Library, Taoyuan Campus Library, and Kinmen Library Room

Featuring selected OpenBook Award-winning titles and 2025 online bookstore bestsellers, this exhibition invites you to discover moments between the lines that transcend the ordinary, and weave together your own “critical and reflective will.”

Rather than waiting for big data to direct your reading, create your own annotations.

We invite you to comment on this event’s social media post and recommend one “Self-Chosen” book read in 2025 (must be part of the Library’s collection)

How to Participate:

  1. Comment on IG/FB: Tag one friend under the event post and write “The book I recommend is…” (e.g., @mculibrary The book I recommend is “Cats Are the Best Life Coaches”).
  2. Borrowing Action: Select any three books from the New Arrivals display area.
  3. Redeem Reward: Borrow the books at the circulation desk and present your IG comment to receive one “Taiwanese Badge.”
※Limited quantities available while supplies last. Each participant may redeem only once.

Are you a collector at heart?
In the Cloud Forest, every book is an energy-filled fruit. When placed in the right planter, it begins to glow. Choose any collection task from the Bingo map and venture into the Cloud Forest to gather designated fruits—by borrowing or downloading themed e-books from the specified platforms. Connect two or more lines of glowing planters to earn a chance to win exclusive prizes!

STEP 1 – Select a Bingo map in one language and review the task requirements.
STEP 2 – Click on a planter to access the designated platform and borrow/download an e-book of the specified theme.
STEP 3 – Return to the Bingo map to light up the corresponding planter.
STEP 4 – Present proof of two completed lines, along with your HyRead borrowing record or downloaded e-book files, at the circulation desk to register for the prize draw.

Notes:

  • During the event period, you may return to the Bingo map at any time to continue the challenge. Each participant can complete up to 8 lines and register up to 4 entries for the prize draw.
  • Each participant may choose only one language version of the Bingo map. Glowing planters cannot be connected via different languages.
  • To ensure fairness, participants’ e-book borrowing records will be verified prior to the prize draw.
